| Hello! My name is Tilman Baumgärtel, and I am a free-lance writer and curator, living in Berlin, Germany. (I was a visiting student in Bufallo in 1990/1991 at the media studies department, btw. ;-) I published two books on internet art, "net.art" and "net.art 2.0". I recently co-organized a show of net art group Jodi, that was shown in Berlin, Basel and New York, and I am currently working on an exhibition of computer games by artists and other art works that deal with gaming. "Games - Computerspiele von Künstlern" will open October 10th in Dortmund and hopefully travel to Berlin next year. Here is a link: http://www.hartware-projekte.de/programm/inhalt/games_e.htm I think the topic of the Collaboration-Conference is quite interesting. In my research I recently encountered this subject, when I looked into the nature of online cooperation on games and game components such as levels, maps, characters etc for games like Counterstrike, Medal of Honour etc. I did some email interviews with kids who do modifications, and wrote a number of journalistic pieces about it. I think there is much more going on on this level than in all these highly charged, ideological projects suchs as wiki etc. Aprt from that, I agree with Wolfgangs criticism. I think that a conference on the subject of free collaboration should look for independent infrastructure. My email programm labels all the mails on this list with a "Spam Alert" sign - probably because it comes from the server topica.com...
