| hi all, ... a brief introduction: I recently began the Media Studies program in the University at Buffalo as a grad student. I'm coming from a long history of community-based work in the Toronto arts scene - primarily through InterAccess (http:www.interaccess.org), an artist-run centre focused on electronic and communications media. More recently I founded Ping Media Network (http://www.ping.ca) as an online space for artistic & social investigation. I've created online interactive projects using server scripting and databases (Open Source world) and run workshops to encourage other artists to use these tools. Currently I'm working on installation and network projects which involve surveillance and memory. I'm quite excited by this conference as it focuses on issues central to my own. I'd like to echo Wolfgang's comment about topica.com (the signup really irritated me) and hope that we can work together to express our ideals in both form and content. thx Tom Leonhardt |
