on the inauguration of the Faculty of Taxonomy

hi all
I'm afraid I made a bad omission in the text of that paper - when describing
the term self-institution, I should make it clear that my understanding of it
in the context of the University of Openess, is derived from the work of the
Copenhagen Free University and their collaborations, also with the Self
Institution Research Unit. The CFU is also my source for understanding the
point of operating in a Free University, and ideas about affective labour, the
strategy of withdrawl and subjectivity in this context.
In fact, the term has developed over a long period of time through work by CFU
researchers Henriette Heise and Jakob Jakobsen at the infocentre - which you
can find references to in this text of the Self Institution Research Unit:
http://www.ourganisation.org/front.php3?article_id=13&group=webcast.
The explanation of the term self-institution in my text, was a note from a
mailing list exchange that attributes the term to Cornelius Castoriadis. This
is not how the term developed for the CFU, but was part of a discussion from
another Uo researcher that was taken out of context and pasted into my text.
For direct access to these ideas, I highly recommend the following texts:
