EVENT CLOSES
Keeping it real takes place informally and across approximately five
hours on Sunday 21st March 2004 in Reykjavik's Living Art Museum. It
will fit around and to a degree complement the collaborative project
'Manyfacture', taking place in the building and which involves the Museum
and the Critical Studies course at Malmö Art Academy, Sweden.
The event is intended for practitioners with an interest in cultural
process and production - not restricted to cultural institutions. It
is structured to permit a broadly representative participation - including
across public, private and not-for-profit sectors.
The focus is PRACTICAL and NOT theoretical. It is hoped that dialogue
as well as practice development will centre on real cases contributed
by participants themselves.
The occasion will afford networking opportunities for interested parties.
The colloquium is devised and animated by aladin/alkhemi U.K. with
the collaboration of Rebecca Ragnarsdottir/Living Art Museum, Marita
Muukkonen/NIFCA, Manyfacture/Malmo Art Academy and the Nordic Council.
The event will be jointly chaired by aladin and the individuals named
above and hosted by Living Art Museum
About the facilitators:
aladin - aladin has been responsible to the Mayor of London for developing
the strategy for culture, media, sport, arts, heritage and tourism in
the capital city since 2000; the creative industries, inclusion, diversity
and sustainable development have been amongst his areas of focus. He
is Vice Chair of the Cultural Strategy Group at City Hall, London, an
interdisciplinary artist/producer/director/curator and also Founder
of alkhemi, the heterodox, hybrid international strategy consultancy.
Marita Muukkonen - Marita is Projects Director at the Nordic Institute
of Contemporary Arts (NIFCA) in Finland.
Manyfacture + Malmo Art Academy - as part of a pre-existing collaboration
with Living Art Museum, Manyfacture participants have been
documenting visits to locally rooted ´spaces of research´
around the
world and carrying out interviews of people involved with institutions.
