Hi, i'm Gabriel Pickard. Activist, and involved in research concerning
(something that you might call) artificial intelligence, information
theory (ditto). I take a (fairly) phenomenological and critical approach
to the everyday user-experience of new media. Parallel and intertwined,
i have been cultivating an interest in (semi-/techno-)utopian ideas (eg
NAM/LETS, oekonux, FK), always intriuged by the promise of new modes of
production and the idea of (what i would call) "network society" as well
as the role which (recombinant|autogenetic) machines might play in it.
These issues have taken a back seat for a while, not to my liking..
That's why i'd be delighted to pick up that thread again! ;-}

Zaal. (Though you may want to prefer visiting the panel on gender issues
running parallel, which i'll also be sad to miss at least half of).
There i'll be talking mainly AI, software & information-theory and the
project that i'm coding on. (If i get there - my boss just might still
